A little about your information

Privacy, simply.

I’m Leo C. Colton, an independent celebrant in Yorkshire. If you get in touch about a ceremony, I want you to know how I look after the personal information you share with me.

What I receive

When you telephone, text or email, I may receive your name, contact details, the details of your enquiry and information you choose to share about a ceremony or someone whose life you would like to commemorate. Please only share what you feel comfortable sharing in an initial enquiry.

Why I use it

I use information to respond to enquiries, discuss arrangements, prepare and deliver a ceremony if we agree to work together, and keep records where necessary. The legal basis is generally taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement or fulfilling that agreement. In some circumstances I also need to meet legal obligations or rely on legitimate interests in running my celebrant service.

Who may handle it

I do not sell personal information or send unsolicited marketing emails. Providers that help operate my communications and website — such as my email service and website host — may process limited information on my behalf. I may also share relevant ceremony arrangements with a funeral director or other person involved, where appropriate.

How long I keep it

I keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the enquiry or ceremony, or to meet applicable legal, accounting and record-keeping requirements, then delete it securely where appropriate.

Website visits

This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics, tracking scripts or a contact form. The hosting provider may process essential technical information, such as security and access logs, to operate and protect the site.

Your choices

You can ask about personal information I hold, request a correction, or ask for information to be deleted where the law allows. You can contact me at Iamacelebrant@pm.me. If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can also contact the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
